The Surrey Art Gallery community engagement look and feel began when the gallery needed a visually appealing, flexible, and easy-to-use Family Sunday promotional package. The resulting logo and visual identity system allow for easy updates to the materials. The illustrations can be customized to reflect the featured activities and workshops. With the style guide and custom templates we developed, the gallery is now able to produce promotional materials and activity guides in house for Family Sunday events.
Surrey Art Gallery Family Sunday's main idea is to provide a space for people to "create, explore, and enjoy art with family and friends!" Developed to expand understanding of exhibitions, Family Sundays are free drop-in events that feature hands-on artmaking workshops with artist-educators in a range of mediums, art exploration activities, artist demonstrations, interactive live performances in the Studio Theatre, and more.
As the Family Sunday promotional package was a great success, the visual identity has grown to include event banners, activity booklets, and promotional materials.
